It is important to differentiate between a web
page problem and a domain name problem.
When your domain name does not work, your web pages will not be visible
even when all your files are properly uploaded to your site. If your
web site is working, your temporary or permanent pages should be visible
from the internet. There are ways to find out if your domain is working
properly, please refer to this technical
support section for further assistance.
Q: What
is my temporary domain name?
A: Your
temporary domain name is specified in the instruction e-mail that
you received when you signed up. It should be in the format of http://sitexxx.mysite4now.com/yourID. Look
for it and you will find it. You will retain this temporary domain
name until your permanent domain is set up.
Q: Why
is my domain name not showing up on my Internet browser?
A: Your
domain name is not configured. Follow these steps to set up your
domain name:
1) Logon into the website
account where you purchased your domain name, and change the
DNS setting to ns1.dnsserver8.com and ns2.dnsserver8.com. This
will forward your domain name to our servers.
NOTE: Our hosting services do
not include registering domain names. You must do this
step on your own and must cover for additional charges, if
any, pertaining registering your domain name.
2) Go to your Control
Panel, click on the Add New Domain Name button and add
your domain name to the ROOT.
Add
New Domain Name
3) Please wait 24 to
72 hours for settings to take effect. Until these changes propagate
throughout the Internet you may not be able to access some parts
of your service such as e-mail account setup.
Q: What
if I do not have access to my current domain name to change
DNS?
A: You
can contact the registrar hosting your domain name and ask for
help changing your DNS. Registrars hold names, we host the
content (i.e. physical space, file administration, etc.) We can
not help because we do not have control over your domain name.
Q: How
do I add multiple domain names?
A: Please
go to the Hosting Control Panel and click on the Add Domain
Name icon to add. If you do nott add your domain name
to your hosting account, your domain name will NOT work.
Add
New Domain Name
Q: How
do I know when my domain name is working or not working?
A: When
you look at your domain name in any internet browser and do not
see your web page there are several reasons why this could not
be working.
-
When your domain name
is not working you will get a notification similar to this
one.

-
When you see a screen
similar to this one it means that your domain name is working
but you are trying to look at a page that does not exist in
your web site. Make sure that: you are looking at the correct
page; that the web code has the proper link names; that your
files are uploaded; and that they have the correct extensions/formats.

Q: I
am still not sure whether my domain is working properly.
What can I do?
A: Try
pinging your domain name. To ping, access the Internet and open
a DOS window.
-
At the prompt type
the following: ping
yourdomain.com
-
Then press enter.
If
it works: You get replies with the IP network
address (first three set of numbers) of 207.182.248 or 208.147.54 This
means your domain name is pointing to our servers.
If
it does not work: You see numbers other than the
ones specified above. This means your domain name is not
pointing to our servers. If you see Unknown
host message as a reply
to your ping instead of numbers, your domain name does not
exist and must be registered.
